The just transition and the importance of leaving no one behind
The just approach to achieving a net-zero transition would try to ensure we leave no one behind.
In this episode, we cover findings from our paper ‘The ‘S’ of ESG- moving from interest to action’, the Just Transition Finance Challenge and much more with two special guests.
We speak to Annika Brouwer, Sustainability Specialist, from Ninety One which is a global asset manager with emerging markets roots and an Institute member. And to Sarah Teacher, Joint Interim CEO, from the Impact Investing Institute which was launched in 2019 to accelerate the growth and improve the effectiveness of the impact-investing market.
We have to adopt a just transition approach, otherwise we will adopt a no transition approach…otherwise there won’t be the democratic buy-in in order to secure it.
Sarah Teacher, Joint Interim CEO at the Impact Investing Institute
As a house, we look to drive down inequality through the lens of inclusion of justice within the transition to net zero. And that is to consider and advocate for the inclusion of people on this quest for a cleaner, greener planet.
Annika Brower, Sustainability Specialist at Ninety One
