Spotlight on Anastassia Johnson, Lead associate | Research

Tell me a little about yourself:
Hi I’m Anastassia, I have been working in the environmental field for 9 years in a range of roles from research to project managing. I joined the Thinking Ahead Institute in early 2022 and I’m excited to be able to contribute to the Institute’s mission.

What is your favourite thing about working for TAI?
It is very evident that this is a company that people enjoy working for. It has a positive culture and very collaborative nature. The Institute’s mission and values are very close to mine, so it feels incredibly rewarding to be working together to find solutions to very important current problems.

What motivates you?
Feeling motivated actually comes naturally to me. When I am doing something I enjoy, I have trouble stopping. The Thinking Ahead Institute’s work focuses on many prominent challenges, some of which feel fundamental. Being able to contribute to the solutions pathway and a sense of possible achievement is very motivating.

What is your favourite place to go and unwind?
In the summer of 2020, when the world was just slowly coming out of the first lockdown, we took a trip to Snowdonia and I was very surprised to find myself feeling the most relaxed for ages. Mountains have a very special energy.

What do you listen to when you need to relax?
Classical music, always! Classical music is scientifically proven to reduce stress level and help sleep.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was very little, I wanted to be a shop assistant because I was absolutely certain that shop assistants help themselves to anything in their shops for free.

How would you partner describe you in three words:
Intelligent, driven and virtuous.
