Superteams: understanding legends and building legacies
At this summit for members and friends of the institute, we explore, “What gets an investment team to the top of their game, and keeps them there?”
We’re excited to be joined by James Kerr, author of Legacy: What the All Blacks can teach us about the business of life. In this 90-minute virtual event we’ll explore what investment organisations can learn from superteams like the All Blacks.
In addition, we share key outcomes from this year’s The Power of Culture study, which culminates in a participant symposium on 21 October. The Culture summit also provides an opportunity for all members to share in the outcomes of this six-year-long research study. These centre on culture’s part in creating a clear and measurable edge for investment organisations, and its role in helping investment leaders navigate the interconnected web of purpose, innovation and sustainability.

The Power of Culture phase 3 | Global investment culture symposium
Culture, rigorously measured and managed, will play a leading role in helping investment organisations to become stronger, fairer and more sustainable businesses. We are grateful to all participants in our Power of Culture study, who have helped us refine and improve our knowledge since its launch in 2019. This year’s participants-only virtual culture symposium takes place on 21 October, during which we will share the aggregate findings from phase 3, which revolve around the themes of purpose and sustainability. In addition, we will explore how functioning as superteams can help investment organisations upgrade their governance and be more innovative and adaptable in the face of rapid change. We will also explore the asset owner culture model and provide a perspective on how asset manager culture is evolving, touching on the alternatives sector.
Roger Urwin and Marisa Hall will lead an engaging discussion with input from both present and past participants, which will contribute to our next white paper, and will aim to provide some actionable takeaways to help support innovation at member organisations.
